A 20-year-old man is behind bars Saturday for allegedly attacking his father with a machete in the unincorporated Lake Hills area of Riverside County.
At about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Lake Mathews station responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 1600 block of Jordana Circle, according to the department.
The victim told deputies that he was attacked in his home by his son, Collin Adam Stewart, with a machete and that Stewart had fled the residence.
Stewart was located a short time later at the intersection of La Sierra Avenue and McAllister Parkway and taken into custody without incident.
The victim was taken to a hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
“Lake Mathews station investigators responded to the scene and assumed the investigation,” according to the sheriff’s department. “A search warrant was authored and served at the residence. Evidence was collected, including the machete used in the assault.
Stewart was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of attempted murder. He was held on $1 million bail.
