The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Thursday promoted the increase of the reward for information leading to the arrest of the killer of a 22-year-old woman in an unincorporated area near South Los Angeles.

The shooting occurred on July 2 around 7:45 p.m. as Raejonette Morgan was traveling on Vermont Avenue in a white Mercedes-Benz moments before approaching the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway in Westmont, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Morgan was approached by a 2016-2018 blue two-door Honda Civic with a spoiler, louvers on the rear window black wheels, and a loud exhaust.

The driver of the sedan then shot at Morgan several times, causing her to crash near a Vermont Avenue on-ramp to the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway.

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors increased the reward to $15,000 “to incentivize new leads or tips from the public and encourage reluctant witnesses or informants to come forward with critical information,” sheriff’s officials said in a statement

Anyone with information regarding the fatal shooting was urged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
