Police are searching Friday for a suspect who fatally struck a man while driving and drove away in Canoga Park.
The fatal crash occurred at 1:15 a.m. Friday and Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to DeSoto Avenue and Sherman Way where they learned the suspect was driving east on Sherman Way when they struck the victim, who was walking outside of a crosswalk, LAPD Officer Jeff Lee told City News Service.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel.
The suspect drove away without stopping to assist the victim in an unknown direction, police said.
There was no vehicle description.
Lee said the department’s Valley Traffic Bureau will be charged with investigating the collision.
