An Ebony Alert is in effect Saturday in Los Angeles County for a 17-year-old boy who was reported missing in Gardena.

Jeremiah Quinones was last seen near West El Segundo Boulevard and Oakmont Lane at approximately 7:12 p.m. Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol, which issued the alert on behalf of the Gardena Police Department.

Jeremiah is Black, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 145 pounds, has black hair and brown eyes. Authorities say he was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black Adidas sweatpants and black Nike shoes. He was also believed to be on foot, carrying a black backpack.

Anyone who has seen Jeremiah or knows of his whereabouts is asked to call 911.

Ebony Alerts are issued to help find Black children, teenagers and young adults — 12 to 25 years old — who are reported missing under unexplained or suspicious circumstances or those who are at-risk, developmentally disabled, cognitively impaired or who have been abducted.
