The driver of a vehicle reported stolen attempted to flee Friday from police officers but crashed within seconds in San Pedro, injuring six people.
The pursuit began at 12:36 p.m. Friday at 19th Street and Pacific Avenue and ended seconds later in a crash at that location, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Kevin Terzes told City News Service.
A total of six people were injured, including two in serious condition, who were taken to hospitals by ambulance, the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Lyndsey Lantz said.
The seriously injured were a 25-year-old man and 35-year-old woman, Lantz said. Four patients were assessed for injuries at the scene and refused to be taken to hospitals by firefighters, who required hydraulic tools to get some patients out of vehicles.
It was unknown whether the person driving the stolen vehicle was among those injured, Terzes said.
