Officers from several jurisdictions converged on a Baldwin Park neighborhood Saturday after two police officers were wounded in a shooting.

Los Angeles County firefighters were summoned about 7:20 p.m. Saturday to the 4200 block of Filhurst Avenue, at Los Angeles Street, Capt. Sheila Kelliher told City News Service.

One officer was taken to a hospital by air and the other by ground ambulance, Kelliher said. Their conditions were not immediately available.

The officers responded to a report of shots heard in the neighborhood and were involved in a shooting when they arrived, Los Angeles County sheriff’s Deputy Tracy Koerner told City News Service.

The officers and the suspect were wounded in the gunfire, Koerner said. The suspect was taken to a hospital in unknown condition and taken into custody.

Helicopter video from KCAL showed the officer taken by helicopter sitting up on the stretcher as he was wheeled into the hospital.

KCAL also showed officers from several law enforcement agencies at the scene including the Los Angeles County sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau.
