A man who allegedly pointed a rifle at people and cars in the Harvard Heights area of Los Angeles was shot and wounded by police Thursday after aiming at them.
Officers responded about 9:20 a.m. Thursday to Washington Boulevard and Western Avenue to a report of a man with a gun, according to Los Angeles police officer Tony Im. Officers encountered a roughly 30-year-old man with a firearm, prompting the shooting,.
According to KCAL9, the suspect had been pointing the gun at people in cars, including at a McDonald’s restaurant, and even aimed at an LAPD helicopter when it arrived.
The suspect was taken into custody and taken to a hospital in stable condition by the Los Angeles Fire Department, Im said.
An LAPD post on X described the shooting location as being at 18th Street and St. Andrews Place, a block from Washington and Western.
No officers were injured, Im said.
