Indio police reported a 911 outage Monday and told residents to call a backup number for emergency services.
The department said the issue began around 6 a.m. Monday.
Anyone needing emergency assistance was urged to call 760-391-4051 until the problem is resolved.
Police said updates will be shared on social media once service is restored.
The cause of the outage was not immediately known.
