An investigation continued Thursday into a pedestrian who was killed by a sheriff’s department vehicle in Jurupa Valley.

King Blake, 18, of Jurupa Valley was fatally struck shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday on Limonite Ave just east of Camino Real, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A deputy from the Jurupa Valley station, whose identity was not disclosed, was eastbound on Limonite Avenue in a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Ford Explorer when the SUV struck Blake, who was walking on the roadway, said CHP Officer Javier Navarro. It was undisclosed whether the vehicle was responding to a call with lights and siren.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The Riverside Coroner’s office identified Blake as the victim on Tuesday.

The investigation is ongoing.
