A pedestrian lost his life Friday morning when he was struck by a vehicle that left the scene near the southbound (110) Harbor Freeway in downtown Los Angeles.
Officers were called to the location at Third Street and Beaudry Avenue at 4:45 a.m. to investigate a report that someone had been hit by a car, according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman.
The pedestrian, whose age was not immediately available, was pronounced dead, the spokesman said.
It was unclear whether he was struck on the freeway or a city street.
Police requested that the California Highway Patrol close the Third Street exit from the southbound 110 Freeway and a SigAlert was issued at 5:50 a.m.
