An at-risk 88-year-old man who was reported missing after being last seen Monday in South Gate, prompting the issuance of a Silver Alert, has been located.

Manuel Santillan had last been seen on Monday near Bryson Avenue and Duane Way at around noon, according to the California Highway Patrol, which activated the alert on behalf of the South Gate Police Department.

Santillan has since been located, but as is customary in missing persons cases no additional details were provided about when or where he was found.

The Silver Alert program was established by the CHP to issue and coordinate alerts involving the unexplained or suspicious disappearances of elderly, developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired individuals.
