Two people were injured Thursday when a vehicle struck a forklift then collided with another vehicle in South Los Angeles.

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Newton Division were called at 2:38 a.m. Thursday to the intersection of Naomi Street and Olympic Boulevard regarding a multi-vehicle collision. When they arrived, the officers found two people who had sustained severe injuries, LAPD Officer David Cuellar told City News Service.

Cuellar said a vehicle struck a forklift that was backing into the street, ejecting the machine’s operator, before striking another vehicle.

The forklift operator, a man in his 50s, and the driver of the vehicle that hit the machine, a man in his 20s, were both taken to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle, a man in 40s, was not seriously injured, Cuellar said.

All three were taken to a hospital for treatment, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
