A man was injured Thursday in a fire at a San Pedro apartment building.
The fire was reported about 9:15 a.m. in a descending three-story apartment building on a hillside at 2030 S. Cabrillo Ave., near Alma Park, said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Crews contained most of the fire damage to one unit and had the blaze out in 20 minutes, according to Stewart, who said 46 firefighters responded.
A man who suffered smoke inhalation and a head injury was taken to a hospital after being evaluated at the scene, the LAFD reported. It was unclear if he was a resident of the building.
Firefighters remained on scene mopping up and taking steps to protect apartments from water damage, Stewart said.
