A 35-year-old convicted robber has been charged with grabbing a girl at a Yorba Linda park and making lewd comments to four other girls.

Marvin Alexander Rivera-Benitez was charged Thursday with single felony counts each of lewd or lascivious acts on a child younger than 14, attempted kidnapping of a child younger than 14 and five misdemeanor counts of child annoyance, according to court records.

He was accused of grabbing the arm of one girl, who kicked him and ran away as passersby and parents detained him until sheriff’s deputies arrived, according to Orange County Sheriff’s Sgt. Gerard McCann. He was also accused of making lewd remarks to other girls about 8 p.m. Tuesday at Veterans Park, 4756 Valley View Ave.

Rivera-Benitez did not enter a plea at his arraignment Thursday in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana. He is scheduled to be arraigned July 24 in the North Justice Center in Fullerton.

Rivera-Benitez pleaded guilty Feb. 10, 2023, to a felony count of robbery and a misdemeanor count of battery, according to court records.
