Authorities Thursday were investigating a three-vehicle collision involving a Riverside County sheriff’s deputy in Palm Desert.
The crash was reported shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday in the intersection of Cook Street and Gerald Ford Drive.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer David Torres, the patrol vehicle was southbound on Gerald Ford at an unconfirmed speed responding to an emergency call. However, when the deputy thought it was safe to proceed through the intersection, he hit a Subaru Outback.
The Subaru “lost control” and crashed into a Nissan Rogue, said Torres.
The two motorists, identified only as male drivers, did not sustain any injuries.
The deputy had a complaint of an injury and was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.
The collision remained under investigation the California Highway Patrol.
