A 24-year-old woman was arrested Thursday on suspicion of a deadly hit-and-run crash in Irvine.

Francis Guadalupe Tercero-Benavides of Anaheim was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run, according to police.

She is accused of killing 67-year-old Allen Yangkaou Lee of Irvine.

Lee was driving a 2004 Toyota Corolla north on Culver Drive toward Trabuco Road about 4:30 p.m. May 9 when he swerved to avoid a Honda Civic turning right against a red light from Trabuco onto northbound Culver, police said.

Lee’s car crashed into a center median on Culver as well as a tree and a light pole before ending up upside down, police said. Lee was rushed to an area hospital and died four days later, police said.

The Honda’s driver kept going, police said.

Acting on tips from the public, police tracked down the suspected Honda Civic in the city and found documents belonging to Tercero-Benavides, police said. She was arrested in Anaheim Thursday morning.
