An investigation was under way Thursday into a multiple-vehicle crash near Lancaster that killed three people who were ejected from at least one of the involved vehicles.
The crash was reported about 4:25 p.m. Wednesday, when the California Highway Patrol was informed a white dodge had collided with another vehicle at the intersection of state Route 138 (West Avenue D) and 110th Street West in Antelope Acres, an officer said.
All three ejected victims were pronounced dead at the scene and two other people, one who was in critical condition and one who had minor injuries, were taken to a hospital by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel, according to the fire department and reports from the scene.
The victims’ names were not immediately available.
It was the second major crash in the Lancaster area in the span of several hours on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, a Rosamond-bound transit bus left Sierra Highway near Avenue C and ended up its side atop railroad tracks, critically injuring the driver, who was apparently knocked out by an object that pierced the windshield before the bus went off the side of the road.
As many as 30 people were aboard the bus, and some 15 of them were injured in the crash, though less seriously than the driver.
