A 27-year-old man who was killed in a hit-and-run collision in West Hollywood was identified Saturday.

The victim, identified by the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s office as Blake Ackerman, was struck by an older-model, white BMW sedan about 9:45 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Fountain Avenue and Gardner Street, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau said.

According to preliminary findings, Ackerman, who was riding a bicycle, was headed west on Fountain when he was struck by the car, which was traveling in the same direction.

The BMW, which is suspected to have a smashed windshield on the passenger side as a result of the crash, did not stop.

Ackerman was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

It was not immediately known if alcohol and/or drugs played a role in the fatality.

Anyone with information about the collision was urged to call traffic investigators at the sheriff’s West Hollywood station at 310-855-8850.
