A woman was shot and killed in a Hawthorne strip mall parking lot and police Friday are searching for the shooter.
ABC7 reported the shooting occurred just before 2 a.m. Friday at 116th Street and Inglewood Avenue where officers from the Hawthorne Police Department found the victim in the strip mall’s parking lot suffering from multiple gunshots wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police were seen interviewing several people gathered in and around the parking lot and ABC7 reported they are looking for at least one suspect.
It was not known if the suspect and the shooter knew each other, police said.
There were no further details.
The police department requested the California Highway Patrol issue a SigAlert for the closure of 18th Street and Inglewood Avenue for an unknown duration while police conducted an investigation of the crime scene.
