A person was fatally shot Thursday in Whittier.
Police issued an alert on social media around 11:30 a.m. advising the public that a shooting investigation was underway on Pickering Avenue, between Penn and Wardman streets.
Whittier Police Department officers and detectives were at the scene conducting an investigation. KCAL9 reported that a person was fatally shot inside a vehicle at the location. Video from the scene showed a vehicle in the middle of the street, with a blanket or tarp covering the front of the car.
All lanes and intersections around the shooting scene were closed and police advised the public to avoid the area.
