A vegetation fire that broke out Friday north of Thermal scorched 10 acres in heavy fuels with a moderate rate of spread in an unincorporated area of Coachella.

The non-injury blaze was reported shortly before 3 p.m. Friday at Shady Lane and Avenue 54, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said multiple additional crews were requested to assist at the scene.

Evacuation orders were issued shortly after 4 p.m. for the area of south of Avenue 52, east of Monroe Street, north of Airport Boulevard and west of Highway 111.

Evacuation warnings have been issued.

The cause of the brusher wasn’t immediately known.
