A vegetation fire that broke out Friday north of Thermal scorched 40 acres in an unincorporated area of Coachella.
The non-injury blaze was reported shortly before 3 p.m. Friday at Shady Lane and Avenue 54, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency stated multiple additional crews were requested to assist at the scene.
Evacuation orders were issued shortly after 4 p.m. for the area of south of Avenue 52 east of Monroe Street, north of Airport Boulevard, west of Highway 111.
The cause of the brusher wasn’t immediately known.
