Firefighters on the ground and in the air battled a three- to five-acre brush fire Saturday evening at Ernest E. Debs Regional Park in the Montecito Heights area of Los Angeles.
The fire was first reported at 7:52 p.m. Saturday at the regional park at 4235 N. Monterey Road, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey. That is north of Huntington Drive.
What has been named the Monterey Fire burned in medium-to-heavy brush pushed by 10-15 mph winds, Humphrey said.
There was no imminent threat to structures, he said.
The LAFD had three helicopters making water-drops on the flames, Humphrey said.
