Police Wednesday are continuing their investigation of a shooting and a stabbing of two men during a fight in Central Long Beach.
Long Beach Police Department officers were called at approximately 9:56 p.m. Monday to the 300 block of East Anaheim Street and Long Beach Boulevard where they found one man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel took the man to a hospital for treatment for his injuries, the police department said.
Officers later located another man suffering from a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body. Fire department personnel took him to a hospital for treatment for his injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the two suspects were in the area of the 1100 block of Cedar Avenue, north of West 10th Street and were involved in a verbal altercation, which escalated when the men shot and stabbed one another, according to police.
The investigation is ongoing.
