A 16-year-old boy was stabbed in Long Beach and a suspect was taken into custody, authorities said Monday.

The attack was reported about 5:45 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Pacific Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Officers found the teen with multiple upper-body stab wounds that were not considered life-threatening, police said. He was taken by paramedics to a hospital.

“Officers quickly located the male adult suspect as he attempted to flee the scene,” according to a police statement. “While being arrested, the suspect assaulted an officer, who did not sustain any injuries.”

Police said the suspect was identified as 34-year-old Christopher Ivan Gonzalez. He was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, resisting arrest, resisting an officer by means of force or violence, and disorderly conduct. Bail was set at $1 million.

The investigation was ongoing.
