A 39-year-old man killed in an apparent hit-and-run collision in Chatsworth was identified by authorities Thursday.

Officers responded at around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday to Lassen Street and Canoga Avenue, where they found the victim lying in a driveway with multiple traumatic injuries, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

The county Medical Examiner’s office identified him as Victor Cocolotta. His place of residence was not disclosed, and his cause of death was listed as “deferred.”

“Evidence at the scene, along with surveillance video, revealed that the victim had been intentionally struck by a vehicle, which then fled the area,” according to a police department statement. “While the victim’s injuries were consistent with being hit by a vehicle, detectives noted he may have sustained additional injuries of undetermined cause.”

Anyone with information about the collision was urged to call the LAPD Valley Bureau Homicide Division at 818-374-9550. Calls during non-business hours or weekends should be made to 877-527-3247.
