A pedestrian killed when he was struck by a car near a Lake Elsinore intersection was identified Friday as a 25-year-old Menifee man.
Edgar Orozco Martinez was fatally injured at 11 a.m. Thursday on Via De La Valle just north of Plaza Valenza, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Sgt. Brad Foster said Martinez was walking along Via De La Valle when the driver of a southbound vehicle apparently lost control, plowed into a parked car and then hit the victim.
The motorist, whose identity was not disclosed, immediately stopped.
Paramedics reached the location within minutes and attempted resuscitative measures on Martinez, but he was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
Foster said patrol deputies questioned the motorist, who wasn’t hurt, but did not arrest him.
“It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision,” the sergeant said.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the sheriff’s Lake Elsinore station at 951-245-3300.

Wait, the police released the driver without testing for intoxication? The family of the victim can definitely sue for dereliction of duty resulting in extreme emotional harm (not knowing for the rest of their lives whether their loved one was killed due to criminal negligence or not).
The driver was wannabe influencer Micheal Wolf with his white cyber truck and was allowed to just walk home. He was speeding over 60 MPH at a residential 25 MPH. Reckless driving guaranteed. Poor guy was a hard working landscaper in the community.
Edgar was not walking down the street like sgt Foster reported. He was killed instantly when the Cyber truck plowed into his trailer, while he was taking the lawn mower off for his weekly landscaping job. A senseless killing of a very young man, who was helping his father with the family landscaping business.
