An explosion was reported Thursday at Palm Springs High School, but police determined it was a vehicle backfiring.
Officers and fire crews reported to the call about an explosion shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday at 2401 E. Baristo Road, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.
Officers revealed the source of the sound came from a vehicle, and deemed the campus to be safe, police said.
As a precaution, authorities will remain at the scene for an unspecified amount of time to continue to search the school grounds.
