A fire that erupted Friday in the garage of a Riverside home was stopped before spreading to the living quarters, from which all occupants safely evacuated.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 5:30 a.m. Friday in the 6900 block of Yellowstone Drive, near Arlington Avenue, according to the Riverside Fire Department.
Battalion Chief Scott Richmond said two engine crews and two ladder truck companies, numbering 17 personnel, were sent to the single-story residence and encountered flames raging in the attached garage.
“Crews initiated attack inside the garage and then confirmed no fire extension into the house,” Richmond said. “The occupants had exited the structure prior to our arrival, but a primary search was completed nonetheless.”
No one was exposed to the flames, which firefighters knocked down within 20 minutes, he said.
Although there was extensive damage to the garage, the rest of the property was not impacted.
Richmond said the cause of the fire appeared to be “accidental in nature,” but the specific ignition source wasn’t immediately identified.
