A 36-year-old homeless woman who was fatally struck by a Metro A Line train in downtown Los Angeles was identified Monday.
The fatal crash occurred at 11:46 p.m. Friday on East Washington Boulevard at Maple Avenue, according to a desk officer at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Center.
The woman was crossing East Washington Boulevard outside of a crosswalk when she was struck, he said.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, the officer said.
She was identified by Monday by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner as Cortlyn Welch-Scheel.
