A 33-year-old man suspected of fatally stabbing a woman found by firefighters sent to an apartment fire in Century City has been taken into custody, police announced Monday.

Crews responded around 6:13 a.m. on Friday to the fire on the 10300 block of Bellwood Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. There, they found a female victim with severe burns and stab wounds.

She was taken to a hospital, where she later died. Her name was withheld pending notification of relatives.

Detectives from the West Bureau homicide Unit identified the suspect as Willian Santos. He was booked on suspicion of murder and being held in lieu of $2 million bail.

”With the assistance of the FBI/LAPD Fugitive Task Force and the California Highway Patrol, the suspect was arrested in the city of Lebec, California, at approximately 8 p.m. on Sept. 12,” the police department said in a statement.

The case is expected to be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for formal charges.
