A woman was hospitalized after she was stabbed near the Coolidge Park neighborhood in Long Beach and Thursday police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the stabbing.
Long Beach Police Department officers were dispatched to the 600 block of East Artesia Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue, north of Jordan High School at approximately 6:23 p.m. Tuesday regarding a stabbing. When they arrived at the scene, the officers found the victim with a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body, police said.
Preliminary information about the case indicates the victim was in the area of the attack when she was approached by two female adult suspects and subsequently got into a physical altercation, which escalated when one of the suspects stabbed the victim, according to the police department.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and treated the victim’s minor injury and the suspects fled on foot prior to officers’ arrival, police said.
The motive for the stabbing and suspects information is currently under investigation, as the investigation is ongoing.
