A 43-year-old man was arrested Monday for allegedly killing a woman in a hit-and-run crash in Cathedral City a year ago.

William Frank Rodriguez of Palm Springs was arrested Monday and booked into Benoit Detention Center in Indio on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and homicide, according to the Cathedral City Police Department.

He was being held on a no-bail warrant, according to the department.

On Oct. 11, 2024, shortly before 12:50 a.m., officers responded to a report in the area of East Palm Canyon and Bankside drives regarding a woman “down in the roadway,” police said.

Upon arrival, they found a woman and a small dog in the roadway, west of Bankside Drive. Her scooter was found near the intersection of East Palm Canyon and Cathedral Canyon drives.

She was taken to a hospital with significant injuries and died the following day.

Authorities identified the victim as Christina Barrington, 60, of Cathedral City.

Police said Rodriguez, who was driving a black 2021 Porsche, struck Barrington while she was riding the scooter and fled the scene.
