The California Highway Patrol Saturday is investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian near West Rancho Dominguez, west of Compton.
The CHP were called at 7:23 p.m. Friday to East 139th Street and Avalon Boulevard where they learned the victim was struck by a white sedan, CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City News Service.
The victim — whose name, age or gender were not immediately known — was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics.
It was unclear whether the collision was a hit and run, authorities said.
The cause is under investigation.
