Two people were injured Monday when a vehicle caught fire as they were working on it outside a Wildomar home.

The blaze was reported at 12:08 p.m. Monday in the 20600 block of Grand Avenue, near Black Ranch Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames raging in the vehicle, threatening to extend into surrounding vegetation.

Two people who had been trying to repair the vehicle suffered minor injuries, likely smoke-related, and ambulances were summoned for the victims, whose identities were not disclosed, according to reports from the scene.

As of 12:40 p.m., the fire was fully contained, with no extension into trees around the property.

No structures were damaged.

Sheriff’s deputies were investigating the cause of the fire, and a county fire prevention officer was also requested to determine whether mishandling of combustible devices may have contributed to the blaze.
