A naked intruder who trespassed at a Studio City duplex was shot to death Friday by a 79-year-old landlord who ended up in the hospital with injured legs.
The fatal shooting was reported about 7:10 a.m. Friday at 4542 N. Tujunga Ave., on the edge of North Hollywood near the Ventura (101) and Hollywood (170) freeway split, according to Los Angeles police and fire officials. The call indicated a trespasser was involved.
Authorities pronounced a roughly 40-year-old man dead at the scene. Police said he had no clothes on when he entered an apartment occupied by two women who began to scream.
Hearing them yelling at the suspect, the landlord rushed into the apartment and was body slammed by the intruder, police said.
The 79-year-old then shot the man three times, killing him, police said.
The septuagenarian was taken to a hospital in serious condition, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. An LAPD spokesman at the scene said the man had two broken legs.
Firefighters pronounced the intruder dead after staging at the location while officers made sure it was safe to enter.
