A pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle in Riverside has been identified.

The crash was reported around 5:20 p.m. Friday near Magnolia Avenue and Polk Street, where officers found the man suffering from major injuries, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The victim, who was later identified as 40-year-old Cody McPhail of Winchester, was rushed to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.

Investigators believe the pedestrian crossed Magnolia Avenue outside of the marked crosswalk and was struck by the vehicle, which was traveling westbound through a green light.
