One woman was fatally shot and another was wounded in a shooting in the Westlake District and an investigation is underway Saturday.
Los Angeles Police Department officers responded at 5:56 p.m. Friday to 1816 West Sixth Street and South Bonnie Brae Street where they found the victims, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.
During the investigation, the officers learned a man walked by the victims, who were standing on Sixth Street, and began shooting at them, police said.
The women were taken to a hospital, where one of them was pronounced dead. The second victim was in stable condition, according to the LAPD spokesman.
The suspect ran away from the scene in an unknown direction.
