A 56-year-old man who was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Palm Springs was identified Tuesday as a resident of the city.

Ricardo Marano was fatally injured around 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the area of 1011 E. Vista Chino, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.

Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive pedestrian lying in the eastbound lane of traffic who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. Paramedics pronounced Marano dead at the scene around 3:40 a.m.

East Vista Chino between North Hermosa Drive and North Avenida Caballeros was temporarily closed for the investigation, but was re-opened around 7:40 a.m. the same day.

The suspect vehicle and the circumstances behind the collision were not immediately available.
