Four people were arrested during two Riverside County DUI checkpoints, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department announced Saturday.

One of the checkpoints was held at Rancho California and Butterfield Stage roads in Temecula from 7 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday and resulted in the arrest of one person on suspicion of driving under the influence. Another person was arrested for two criminal warrants, the sheriff’s department announced.

The second checkpoint was conducted at Highway 111 and Library Way in Rancho Mirage from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. and resulted in the arrest of two people on suspicion of driving under the influence.

A total of 417 vehicles were contacted during the Temecula checkpoint and 974 vehicles were contacted in the Rancho Mirage checkpoint.

Funding for both checkpoints was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
