A 59- year-old man who was killed in El Monte was identified by county authorities Wednesday.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office determined the victim was Anthony Leyva.

The death occurred at around 7:30 a.m. Sunday in the 3600 block of Peck Road, south of Ramona Boulevard, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.

Leyva was found in a Walgreens parking lot with multiple stab wounds and his cause of death was ruled a homicide. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
