A Los Angeles Police Department motorcycle officer and a car collided on the San Diego (405) Freeway in West Los Angeles Sunday, snarling traffic and sending the officer to a hospital.
The crash was reported at 6:05 p.m. Sunday on the southbound San Diego Freeway just south of the Santa Monica (10) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The vehicles initially blocked the HOV lane and the No. 1 lane.
The officer was taken by ambulance to a hospital, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service. Neither the officer’s identity nor condition were disclosed.
The CHP issued a SigAlert at 6:25 p.m. shutting down all southbound lanes. The far right lane was reopened at 6:45 p.m. and all lanes were reopened about 8 p.m., Garcia said.
