A suspect wanted in a shooting was taken into custody Wednesday after leading police on a reckless pursuit through Inglewood, Hawthorne, Gardena and Harbor Gateway.
The chase began about 3:10 p.m. near Vermont Avenue and Imperial Highway in the Westmont district, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Police confirmed the suspect was wanted in connection with a shooting, but few details were immediately available.
During the pursuit, the suspect drove erratically, traveling onto sidewalks and against traffic while attempting to evade officers and narrowly avoiding multiple vehicles.
The pursuit ended shortly before 4:30 p.m. near Purche and Ardath avenues in Inglewood, where the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody.
