Authorities continued Wednesday to investigate the death of a pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle in Palm Desert.
The collision was reported at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday in the area of Portola Avenue and Frank Sinatra Drive, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies found a woman in the roadway, who had sustained significant injuries, the agency said. Paramedics arrived a short time later and took her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the vehicle was cooperative with investigators, and it appears that alcohol or drugs were not factors in the crash, authorities said.
The victim’s name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
