Two men were killed early Monday in a fiery, single-vehicle crash into a tree in Anaheim.

The crash was reported at about 12:35 a.m. Monday on Katella Avenue near the Orange (57) Freeway, Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Matt Sutter said.

The two were traveling eastbound in a Jeep Liberty on Katella when the driver veered off the road for unknown reasons and slammed into a tree, Sutter said. Speed may have been a factor in the cause of the crash, he added.

Investigators were still working to identify the two badly burned victims, Sutter said. The vehicle was registered out of Orange.

Investigators were asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward by calling Anaheim police.
