Robbers have been targeting 7-Elevens in Southern California, with two cash-filled register boxes taken in the latest crime at one of the convenience chain’s stores, authorities said Wednesday.

Two suspects in dark clothing jumped the counter of a 7-Eleven on East Olympic Boulevard in East Los Angeles and ran off with two cash register boxes, according to store surveillance video, which showed the suspects heading into the store before one jumps over the counter.

The only other person in the store was an employee, who said more than $1,000 in cash may have been in the registers. The employee was not hurt.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was investigating that case while the Los Angeles Police Department was investigating two robberies of 7-Eleven stores in its jurisdiction, one in Westlake and the other in Palms, that both took place Monday night.

The first occurred at about 10:15 p.m. in the 3100 block of Overland Avenue, where at least two suspects stole cash from the store’s registers before driving from the scene, according to the LAPD.

The second happened at about 11:40 p.m. in the 3100 block of Beverly Boulevard in the Westlake District, where once again, two suspects stole money from a cash register before driving off.

It was unclear if the three robberies are related.
