A pedestrian was fatally struck by a Metro train Thursday in the West Adams district of Los Angeles.

Metro issued an alert around 6:45 a.m. Thursday that there had been a “train-person incident” involving an E Line train near the Expo/LaBrea Station, at 5060 W. Exposition Blvd.

The Los Angeles Fire Department was notified of the injured pedestrian about 6:15 a.m. and pronounced the person dead at the scene, a department spokeswoman said. The deceased individual’s name, age and gender were not immediately available.

According to Metro, the pedestrian was struck near Hauser Boulevard and West Jefferson Boulevard.

It was unclear what the person was doing on the tracks.

Bus shuttles were requested, according to Metro, which temporarily had all passengers board trains on the downtown Santa Monica-bound side of the platforms at the La Cienega/Jefferson, Expo/La Brea, Farmdale and Expo/Crenshaw stations as trains were forced to use a single track on that part of the line.

Regular service was restored about 11 a.m., according to Metro.
