Firefighters had a line of cleared vegetation around 57% of a brush fire Sunday that has burned nearly 300 acres in Acton.

The Lemon Fire was first reported at 2:11 p.m. Saturday on a hillside between the northbound Antelope Valley (14) Freeway and Pearblossom Highway, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The fire was 57% contained as of Sunday night after forward progress was stopped, according to an incident update on the CalFire website.

The fire’s size was revised downward by Sunday night from 300 acres to 273, according to the incident update.

All evacuation orders were lifted Sunday and a warning remained for one area near the fire at nightfall.

It was not clear how many firefighters remained on scene.

On Saturday, U.S. Forest Service air tankers and helicopters assigned to the Angeles National Forest joined in the firefight and Cal Fire aircraft reloaded retardant at Fox Field in Lancaster. There were 177 personnel assigned to the fire from 81 units and with eight aircraft dropping water or fire retardant from helicopters and fixed-wing airplanes, officials said.

No injuries or structure damage was reported. The cause of the fire was under investigation.

The National Weather Service said elevated fire risk will be present in the Antelope Valley all week, with high temperatures, low humidity and occasional gusty winds.
