The Hermosa Beach Pier is expected to be open Monday after it was temporarily closed because of a power outage on Sunday.

The incident occurred about 9:30 a.m. Sunday when an Los Angeles County Beaches and Harbor maintenance truck drove underneath the pier and struck electrical lines that provide power to the pier’s lights, according to the Hermosa Beach Police Department. No structural damage to the pier was reported and no injuries occurred.

The pier was temporarily closed while public works responded to determine whether it was safe for public use. After the inspection, officials reopened the pier to pedestrians.

Police said the pier is expected to close again before dark on Sunday because repairs to the electrical system have not yet been completed, leaving the pier without lighting.
