A person was killed Wednesday in a three-vehicle collision in the Pico-Union district.

Firefighters responded at approximately 5:55 p.m. Wednesday to the 1800 block of South Union Avenue, one block north of Washington Boulevard, to reports of a major collision, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

One person, despite rescue and life-saving efforts, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The person’s name was withheld pending notification of relatives.

The cause of the collision was being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.

No firefighters were reported injured during the rescue operation.
